Dave and Cathie Datema

Dave and Cathie joined the staff of the Frontier Mission Fellowship (FMF) in 1999. As General Director, Dave has overall responsibility for the community of people who are FMF members as well as for the organizations FMF has spawned, including:
- The US Center for World Mission
- William Carey International University
- Roberta Winter Institute
- Judson International School
The Center and University are located on a 15-acre campus in Pasadena, California. The USCWM produces periodicals like the Global Prayer Digest, a prayer guide for unreached people groups, and Mission Frontiers, a popular missions magazine. Through William Carey Library, they publish and distribute a wide array of mission books and materials. They also offer various training/educational opportunities, such as Perspectives, World Christian Foundations, and INSIGHT.
Cathie has "home assignment," caring for their 4 children. Their teenage son, Cuyler, was born extremely premature and has significant handicaps as a result. Cathie also homeschools daughters, Callie, Jill, and Julie.
As a child, Dave spent time in Jamaica (2 years) and Sierra Leone (8 years) where his parents, Jerry and Eleanore, were United Brethren missionaries. Dave also spent 5 years growing up in Grandville, Michigan where his dad was the pastor of the Maple Hill UB Church. Cathie's home church is Mt. Zion UB of Wayne, Ohio. Both Dave and Cathie are alumni of Huntington University, where they met.
Dave is an ordained United Brethren minister with pastoral experience as associate pastor of the Findlay First UB church in Findlay, Ohio (1989-1992) and as senior pastor of Bethel UB church in Elmore, Ohio (1993-1998). He has served on the Global Ministries Leadership Team since 2001.
